Is This What God Wants for Me?

1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Written by: Matt Rawley

Am I using my gifts to serve others? This question has inspired and frustrated me throughout my life. If you are like me, you constantly reflect on your life and the way you are living it. Am I doing enough? Is this what I want my life to be? Is this what God wants for me?

For me, work has always been a contentious issue related to purpose and meaning. I’ve gone through phases of my career where I felt like I was exactly where I should be, using my gifts to serve others. I believe these moments are a little bit of Heaven in the real world. There have also been times where I felt lost in my career and found myself asking questions like, am I making a difference or should I be doing something else?

The truth is, God specifically designed each one of us. He has uniquely gifted us. We should feel the pull to use those gifts to serve others. When we choose to serve others with our gifts, an interesting thing happens. Our souls feel full. The Bible is full of God’s truth and grace. When we choose to accept His truth and grace, we start living life a little differently.

Hustle 3.20Thought of the day: What gifts has God given you? How can you better utilize those gifts to serve God and others?

Prayer: God, help me to better understand my gifts and how I can use them to serve others. I know You love me and You have a specific plan for my life. Help me to seek Your truth, understand Your grace, and find peace in my work. In Jesus’ name, amen.
