Count it all joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Perspective is crucial. Using perspective, a good photographer can make something that is small look big or something that is big look small. If our perspective of the various trials and problems we face isn’t accompanied by our perspective of God, who loves us more than we can imagine, then we will find ourselves struggling when various trials come our way.
We know trials will come and our faith will be tested. Jesus even told His disciples that in this world we will have trials, but to take heart because He has overcome the world. When we face trials with the right perspective, we are able to mature into something that is perfect and complete. These words don’t mean we are perfect. They mean we can become more like Jesus and develop into who we were intended to become.
Jesus has done the work we could not do and has overcome the world so we may be a part of His kingdom and rest in His presence. This is the perspective Jesus had toward God the Father. He trusted the Father through His trials and looked past them to the joy that would come after.
Just as Jesus did, we should rest in the presence of God knowing there is greater joy on the other side. Let’s become who God intended us to be and learn to trust and lean on His presence and Love.
Thought of the day: We read in Matthew that Jesus said to all who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him and He will give them rest. What areas in your life are heavy? What trials are you facing that you need to bring to Jesus to experience rest?
Prayer: God, as I face trials in my life, please help me to have the right perspective. Help me to come to You with the heaviness of life, knowing You will make it light. Help me to move through trials resting in Your presence and Your love knowing there is joy in the future hope of our salvation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
