Love, Such Love!

2 Corinthians 5:15, 21
He died for everyone so those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Have you ever witnessed a precious elderly couple who finish each other’s sentences and dote on each other because that’s just a part of their everyday routine? They do it because it seems like that’s all they know to do. Their love for each other is incredibly intense after years of being one that they wouldn’t think of allowing the other person not to shine or reach their goals. They want nothing but the best for their loving partner. Their love is so strong that when their loved one suffers pain, the other suffers. When one cries, the other sheds tears of sorrow. They would even go as far as to die for each other. That is such a beautiful picture of love, isn’t it?

An even greater picture of love is what God did for you and me. God gave His one and only Son, Jesus, who He loved like no other to be the sacrifice for our sin and pay the penalty that we owe…just for us! If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is. God is waiting for you and me to come to Him.

Jesus died so we might live an abundant and eternal life. Jesus died so we might be free. Jesus died for your sins and mine. Oh, how grateful I am for His love for you and me.

Prayer: Abba Father, we ask You today to come along side our family and friends. Move in their hearts and draw them to Your presence. It is there where they will find peace and the fullness of Your love. It is there where You will supply all of their needs and give them a fresh touch and the goodness of Your blessings. Place upon them Your wisdom and understanding, that they will live for You in such a way that honors and glorifies Your Holy name. Increase their desire to want to know and trust You more. Remove all fear and doubt from their lives as they fully submit to You and replace it with Your perfect love. Where there is suffering, strengthen and heal them. Where there is division and bitterness, restore and replace with Your mercy and grace. Where Satan’s plan is to kill, steal, and destroy, show Your power and might to take him down. Move in us to reveal any sin keeping us from Your presence. Give us grace for today and then tomorrow supply an entirely new source of grace for us to draw upon. We need You Lord and we are thankful that at the end of the day You have our tomorrows in Your Almighty hands. May we submit to You now as Christ-like examples to our future generations of Your goodness, faithfulness, grace and mercy. Amen.

Hope on Deposit

2 Corinthians 1:21-23

Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Have you ever had that unsettling feeling that you missed making a deposit into your bank account on time and the funds will be insufficient when the payment comes due? Well, this will never happen when it comes to the “glorious riches” in which God has in store for those who belong to Him. Ephesians 3:16-17 says: “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”

According to scripture in Ephesians 1, God has done all the work and it is He who guarantees it all by depositing the Holy Spirit in our heart: our spiritual bank account!  Verses 13 and 14 say:  “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

ITP-Devo12.3Thought of the day: There is no stronger hope than a guarantee and no greater guarantor than God Himself.

Prayer: Father, we pray lives are changed as people experience the presence of The Lord in This Place. May we see the spectacular results of someone coming into the very presence of a Holy God. May we actually be able to witness and quantify what people are experiencing and then use that same witness and measure to glorify Your mighty works among Your people. May we witness the physical healing of the sick and know it was only You; and testify to this truth! May we see the restoration of a relationship and know it was only through Your divine love and reconciliation. May we see a life not living to please You transformed into a new creation that is only possible through Your love, grace and mercy. Thank You God in advance for the very real and present changes we are about to see in this place. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Standing on Holy Ground

Exodus 3:4-5
When the Lord saw that [Moses] turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.”

I love the wildness of this story. This is the moment when God revealed himself to Moses. Here was a guy who had lost it all. He was on the run, guilty of murder, and he had a speech impediment. Moses was washed-up and insecure, but God was with Moses every step of the way. In this moment, when Moses had resigned himself to a quiet life as a shepherd, God breathed fire into Moses’ life. He would never be the same and, in the end, God would use this broken man to rescue His people out of a life of slavery in Egypt.

The very same God who met with Moses that day also wants to breath fire into our lives. What if we can’t see the burning bush right in front of us because we’re so busy? Could the ground we’re standing on right now be holy and we just can’t see it yet? It was in the moment when Moses stopped striving and was alone that God’s presence showed up and the call of God fell on Moses.Thought of the day: When will you stop running? When will you come to the end of what you think is important and turn to answer the call of God on your life? Like it or not, God is in this place and no matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or what’s been done to you, God is calling you to a life of service and a life of purpose in the Kingdom of God. How will you answer?

Prayer: Jesus, walking around my neighborhood, I see home after home after home, full of people who need You. Lord, would You make a way for me to reach my friends and neighbors with Your truth? Give me opportunities, help me to see the moments that You’ve established, give me wisdom and humility that I might be effective at helping people meet, know, and follow You. Bless my neighbors, bring revival in my neighborhood. In this place, may You be King and may I get to see Your glory on display as people find You and as lives are changed. Thank You for letting me be a part of Your rescue mission in this place. Amen!
