Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. Therefore rejoice you heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”
When Jesus died, Satan was hurled out of heaven! And the heavens rejoiced!
But Satan was hurled to earth. Right here with us! Should we rejoice?
When Jesus died, Satan lost his job. He was a professional accuser—telling God about our sins constantly. He was a professional tattletale. But Satan loved his job. He was so good at it and he trained others to do it with him. So now he has a whole battalion of tattletales. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, Satan and his followers no longer have God’s ear. And he is raging mad with fury!
But he loves his job! So now, who does he tattle to?
YOU! He tries to whisper in the ears of every believer, follower, and servant of God. Anyone who believes in Jesus is subject to the tattles and accusations of Satan, the enemy of God—or one of his henchmen.
Because Satan is the enemy of God, by our choice to follow Jesus and become the church, we also become the enemy of Satan. Remember, the church is not a building, it’s a movement we choose to become a part of by believing in Jesus.
Satan is busy. He has a short time to destroy the church and to destroy us.
If you hear a voice telling you “you can’t do that” or “you’re not worthy of this” or “see what a mess you are,” don’t believe it! Because it’s only a half-truth.
We are not able, worthy, or clean without the blood of Jesus. Jesus empowers us, He makes us worthy, and He cleans us up.
And that’s where all the fun starts!
Thought of the Day: If you hear a whisper that sounds like someone accusing you, don’t believe it for a second! Rejoice! Satan thinks you are a threat, so he is trying to stop you. Put on your full armor and stand firm in your faith and the truths of God (Ephesians 6). Be unstoppable in Jesus’ name! Jesus makes you able, worthy, and clean!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, make us wise to all of the tattletales of your sworn enemy. Teach us to respond with the biggest “no” we can muster when we are accused or tempted. Let us see when Satan is at work on a brother or sister. Teach us to use our gifts to support them in their faith. Deliver us all from evil counter-attacks. We pray this in Jesus’ name, for Your glory and our good, amen.
