Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

The problem is not that we don’t love God, but that we cannot begin to comprehend the love that He has for us.
How do we love our children? How many of us desire to provide food, shelter, clothing, peace, and happiness to them? We desire these things, though we are limited in our abilities and we are sinners. We get tired. We get hungry. We lose our temper. We struggle with our job and our own desires.
If we still desire to provide out of love, imagine how your Heavenly Father—who can do all things and loves you beyond your comprehension—desires to provide for you. He never grows tired or hungry. He has infinite patience and never struggles with desires. We tend to compare God to our own earthly parents. We place God into a box so that we can better understand Him, unknowingly limiting His goodness and the blessings He wants for us.
God proved His provision as the Israelites wandered through the desert. Each morning, God provided a day’s worth of mana (the bread of heaven), of which God commanded them to work and gather just enough for one day. In this, He gave us an example of how He provides for our daily needs and continues to provide even today. Whatever your need is, you can offer it to God and know He hears you.
God has never wanted us to do life on our own. He wants us to hand over all things to Him. He desires that we come to Him each morning with thankful hearts and faith in His provision. As we pray with gratitude to God and trust in His goodness daily, we begin to see how He provides for our every need. Philippians 4:6-7 helps us comprehend His good gifts are beyond measure and His peace surpasses all understanding. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Thought of the day: What in your life do you need to hand over to God to be able to experience His peace?
Prayer: Dear Good Father, we honor You and can see how great Your provision is for us. Please grant us the wisdom to seek You daily, with thankful hearts and faith that You will always provide. Amen.
